It has been a long time coming, but with a new government, comes new hope for the Indigenous peoples of Canada. Minister Bennette confirmed on May 10, 2016 that Canada was fully committed to the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples by permanently removing their Objector Status.
